Simple Summer Makeup Look

First of all, long time no see… It’s been a while since my last post, but no worries, I’m back. I had been thinking a lot about what my first post should be since March, but what better could I write about than an easy, breezy, summer makeup look. Nothing fancy, no need to blend a lot, basically something anyone could do. I wanted to create a look for this summer, since my make up routine has changed so much over the past year, to show what I have learned, what products I prefer now and which habits I kept with me.

For summer, I like to reduce the amount of make up I use mainly because it would sweat off and my skin can breathe better too. I also opt for a natural look; tinted cheeks and no foundation.

Although I did include my current favorite foundation that I have been using for the past few weeks, and simply can’t get enough of it. It’s the Lancome Teint Miracle foundation which promises to hydrate and give you a healthy look. Fortunately, Lancome kept its promise and I have never liked a foundation better. It has a medium coverage, which I prefer during the summer, especially since my freckles show and I don’t want to cover them up. Also, my skin has cleared up very nicely and I don’t feel the need to use foundation every day for my full face, instead I only use it under my eyes to lighten the dark circles. It stays in place throughout the day, doesn’t crease nor grease, but still hydrates the skin really well, leaving you with soft skin even when you wash it off.

Since I use the foundation as a concealer I jump right to a light contour, for which I use my good old Bobbi Brown Cheek Glow Palette. I use the shade Bronze Sun (illuminator) + Milk Chocolate (contour). Although I only use the contour shade out of this palette, I absolutely love it. It is the perfect shade for olive toned skin during the summer, it can also be blended so easily; it takes a few brush strokes and you won’t have to worry about a blotchy contour. It’s very natural and it gives you a lovely, sun-kissed glow that we all want this summer.

Next, I reach for my Smashbox L.A. Lights Blush & Highlight Palette in the shade Malibu Berry that I have been using nearly every day for the past year. It contains two berry-toned, matte blushes and a light pink shimmery blush which can also be used as an illuminator. I like to use the shimmery blush on my cheeks to give me a healthy looking glow. I love every shade of this palette, perfect for traveling, and it doesn’t cake up on your skin either.

I then continue with my eyes with the help of the Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat Palette which picked up during my trip to Valencia, Spain. I am a big fan of the shade “vibrate” on my eyelids because it gives a natural definition in the crease making your eyes pop a little. Next, I apply the slightly darker shade “hot spell” under my waterline to complete the look. These warm, neutral shades look good on everyone and I think I have found the perfect nude palette for me with this smaller version of the Naked Heat Palette. It has wonderful shades that can be easily blended and they are very butter, making the shades opaque on the eyes.

I then end my look with a tiny bit of highlighter with the use of the MAC Hyper Real Glow that I got for my birthday from my best friend this year. It has 3 different shades of highlighter, all very subtle, but buildable if you want to go for a look that is more intense. I love all shades, there isn’t one I use the most or the least, I switch them up day to day and I am always very pleased with the outcome.

Finally, I add some mascara only on my upper lashes, and if you feel like you would want to complete the look with something extra, add some bright lipstick that just resembles summer. This had been my go-to look since the beginning of May probably and I am still haven’t switched anything up yet, so I do hope these products or parts of the routine works for you!
