How To Take Care Of Your Skin In Spring

Spring is the season when flowers bloom, the birds start to chirp again, the sun comes out and we simply feel much more content. On the first few days of pure sunshine, I can literally feel the stress flowing away and the weight lifting off my shoulders that have packed on during the dull winter. I can’t think of anything more pleasant than the sun warming up the air after months of bitter wind and cold snow that made our days monotone and repetitive. We go out more and spend more time under the sky and just let ourselves soak in all the vitamins and sunshine that we have been lacking most likely since September.

I feel much more energetic and happy, and that can also be seen on my skin. And since we stepped out of winter, I had to change my skincare routine, because the wind doesn’t dry out my skin as much anymore, and I can pull out my lightweight moisturizers that don’t clog up my pores either. For this reason, it is important to change up your routine every once in a while to make sure your skin gets all the key vitamins and antioxidants. So keep on reading if you want to find out the best products to use this upcoming season!

I like to start off my routine by using L’Occitane’s Amande Shower Scrub to remove my makeup and dirt. This product was originally made as a body scrub, but I find that if you gently work it in your face, it can work miracles! Just makes sure you don’t scrub your skin very harshly because you can harm the top layer of your skin which can cause redness and irritation. All in all, I like this shower scrub because it cleanses well and gets rid of any blemishes and spots in just a few days and I could already see a big difference after the first wash. It contains almond oil which is a great source of vitamins and antioxidants that help liven up the skin and add a glow that has been lost over the winter. L’Occitane is a wonderful brand that I have only started using recently but fell in love with it fast from using their products on a daily basis.

Next, I usually tone my face with a toner from Estelle & Thild Micellar Cleansing Water to remove any leftover makeup and to cleanse and hydrate my skin. Using a toner twice a day has helped my skin recover from pimples under a short amount of time. This cleanser evens out my complexion, which I especially need in the morning to wake up my skin, in addition, the skin loves the aloe vera that it contains since it reduces puffiness and the natural coconut tensides help keep the skins natural barrier clean and healthy.

After cleaning my skin I apply the Bioderma Cicabio +50 SPF to moisturize and hydrate because any face scrub can dry out your skin. This not only hydrates but also but gives me a luminous and dewy finish that makes my skin look healthier. The SPF protects your skin from sun radiation which is extremely important these days, especially since the sun can cause your skin to wrinkle faster. I bought this originally for a scar on my leg, because this product contains ingredients which help the skin recover faster, but when I read the back, I saw that you can use this on your face not only as a moisturizer but as a primer too and since then, I have been loving to use it under my foundation, because then I know my makeup will definitely last the whole day. It somehow manages to blend in with makeup in a way that it doesn’t let it move around and fade off after several hours.

If my skin has been feeling extremely dry I like to apply a few drops of oil to give it some extra hydration. For this, I have been using L’Oreal’s Facial Oil that I have seen on the drugstore shelves for the past few weeks and thought I should give it a try since I have been running out of my old one. Although this anti-age oil and helps fight wrinkles, I don’t mind using a few drops every other day to increase the number of essential oils in my skin. What made me buy this product was not only because I was hoping to find a new holy grail for a great price (which I did), but also because it contains lavender, marjoram, rosemary, geranium, rose, roman chamomile, orange peel which all benefit the skin by energizing it and protects the skin from becoming dry. In addition, I have been breaking out really badly the last couple of weeks, so I decided to add a few drops of tea tree oil to this product because tea tree oil is known for its ability to cure acne and infections.

So this is my new routine that I have been doing the last few weeks since the weather has turned better. Some of these products are old favorites, some I recently found but have been really enjoying them.
