I few months ago I had written a review about drugstore foundations and since then I keep getting asked to do a part 2 so throughout those months I tried out a few and made up my opinion about them. I was looking for a mid/high coverage, something that does not look cakey with concealer and powder, a foundation that can stay on all day without my skin getting oily. I guess you could say my expectations are quite high, but when it comes to foundation, I want the best one. I have tried out 3 foundations, all from different brand to make sure they don’t have anything in common.
I have tried out the L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation and since then it has been my holy grail, but after I had gotten my hands on these I realised what the big fuss was about. It has a high coverage, without applying too much and does not feel heavy on the skin at all. I was expecting good from this foundation, but I never thought it is going to be this great! It works well with concealers, powders and blushes and they can be blended together well. However, by the end of the day my skin gets a little oily, therefore I had to reapply some powder to make the shine go away ( I did not experience this with the Pro-Matte although I do prefer this over the Pro-Matte).
2.Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation:
This is such an amazing foundation. It has a nice coverage, doesn’t make my skin oily and feels smooth on the skin too. I like to apply some hydrating moisturizer before I put the foundation on because I feel like it sits much better on my face and looks even more natural. It has a lovely dewy finish that doesn’t go away even if I had brushed on some powder, but it would probably look even better with loose powder. The only thing I am not a fan of, is that it contains small sparkles that can be seen on the face. It makes it obvious that you are wearing foundation, but this won’t stop me from using it.
3. Astor Skin Match Protect Foundation:
I have been using the Skin Match Protect Concealer, and I am really loving it so I decided to pick up the foundation aswell. It has a very liquidy texture and I had to make sure it doesn’t drip everywhere. At first it didn’t feel right on my skin; I could really feel that something was on my face, in addition the coverage is quite light. So at the beginning I was disappointed in how much I didn’t like this product. Though when it started to blend in with my skin, it got much better. It didn’t feel and look as cakey as it did before. So in conclusion, this foundation needs some time to let it sink in to finally be able to get on with the powders, blushes ect. Plus, I still wasn’t pleased with the coverage and by the end of the day, I barely had any foundation on my skin, but at least it didn’t make it oily. I am sad it didn’t work out the way I was hoping for.
These had been the foundations I have tried out lately, some causing some diappointment, and some had gotten me very pleased. All in all, the L’oreal Infalible has taken the #1 for me by far! Though, I am loving the Rimmel Wake Me Up aswell, and I’m sure I’ll be getting a great use out of it both!
